The pressure broadening of CO2(0000rarr;00deg;1) transitions has been studied by using an HBr chemical laser. By measuring the absorption of the HBr laser beams by CO2gas, the coefficients of broadening have been obtained as a function of the rotational quantum numberJ. The coefficient is expressed as Dgr;ngr;= (5.2plusmn;0.5)minus;(0.05plusmn;0.01)J(MHz/Torr). This equation is in good agreement with data from other reports. From the measurement the EinsteinAcoefficient has been calculated asA= (1.3plusmn;0.2) times;102(secminus;1). The effects of He and N2collision partners have been measured.
