During the late spring of 1942 engineers at the Telecommunications Research Establishment (TRE) at Malvern produced two electronic systems designed to counterthe German Freya radar. This early-warning and surveillance equipment, deployed in moderate numbers, operated initially on frequencies in the band 118-128 MHz.
