The specific adsorption of a polar gas on a dropping mercury electrode in the presence of an inert getter is investigated as a function of the pressure in the system and the external applied voltage. The results are compared with an electrocapillary equation which was developed in a previous work. It is found that CF4is not specifically adsorbed on the mercury surface while CH2Cl2is, and that the surface concentration of the latter in the presence of the former is independent of the applied voltage in the range plusmn;3 kV.
