Using a precision adiabatic calorimeter, the heat capacity of a sample of 62.5hyphen;wt percnt; ethylene glycolhyphen;water solution was accurately measured from minus;188deg; to 25deg;C. It was found that the solution readily supercools with a glass transition temperature of minus;131deg;C. The change in heat capacity at the glass transition temperature agrees with the theoretical value based on the hole theory of liquids. The change in heat capacity computed from these data was found to be 0.223 cal degminus;1middot;gminus;1or 3.69 cal degminus;1middot;``mole of beads''minus;1.
