An unfortunate dermal exposure to an Ixodes tick infected with the spirocheteBorrelia burgdorfericauses the multifaceted Lyme disease. Patients with Lyme disease have dermatologic, arthritic, neurologic, and cardiac abnormalities. Also, symptoms secondary to musculoskeletal inflammation may be present.
