Scintigraphic Demonstration of a Blind Loop Following Surgery for Crohn's Diseasemdash;The Value of Tc-99m HMPAO White Cell Scanning

Labelled white blood cell scans using Tc-99m HMPAO are rapidly replacing barium studies as the best method of assessing disease activity and extent in the follow-up of patients with inflammatory bowel disease. The authors present a case of Crohn's disease in which a diseased blind loop of ileum, created by a previous surgical enteroenterostomy, was diagnosed solely by means of white blood cell imaging (due to its vascular pedicle). Barium studies were negative.
