Autoionizing and Negative Ion States of Xe and Kr below the2P1sol;2Limits

A new electron impact apparatus has been used to measure the ionization current of Xe and Kr between the2P3sol;2and2P1sol;2thresholds with a high signal to noise ratio. In both gases we have observed the contribution of several autoionizingdprime; levels as well as perturbations of the ionization continuum due to negative ion states.
