During the summer of 2007 UK air display pilot Rob Davies achieved a most significant milestone - a total of 1,000 flying hours in North American P-51 Mustangs.Rob's usual mount, upon which he has flown most of his Mustang hours, is P51D-25NA 44-72917/G-HAEC, Big Beautiful Doll, which he acquired from the Old Flying Machine Company (OFMC) in March 1997. For the last ten years Rob has regularly displayed the Doll at airshows all over Europe, and he has also flown other Mustangs in both Europe and the USA. For example, he carried out the initial test flying for Maurice Hammond in P-51D 45-11518/G-MSTG Janie when it was first flown after restoration in July 2001, and he has also flown G-SUSY on a number of occasions over the last few years, as well as Damn Yankee, Old Crow and other Mustangs in the USA.
