The formation of extremely brittle secondary phases,products of the chemical reactions between TiB_2 and these metallicphases during sintering, has been totally prevented by the carefuldesign of The metallic powder mixtures. Furthermore, the crystallinestructure of the metallic binder phase can Be changed from austeniteto ferrite by varying the amount of aluminium added to the powderMixtures.
