Tricritical phenomena in quasihyphen;binary mixtures. VI. The binary system ethane +nhyphen;eicosane and some revised scaling parameters

The threehyphen;phase coexistence curve for the binary system ethane +nhyphen;eicosane has been measured and its relation to the tricritical point in the quasihyphen;binary system ethane +(nhyphen;heptadecane+nhyphen;octadecane) is discussed. In order to fit the curve into the scaling scheme developed from an extended classical theory of tricritical phenomena, it is necessary to include terms derived from a ninthhyphen;order freehyphen;energy polynomial.
