The CH2rocking frequencies in ethylene are explained by taking the flexibility of the CC bond into account. Mathematical expressions for the bond flexibility are dealt with. The difference between the Ureyhyphen;Bradley field and the orbital force field is discussed and it is concluded that in the case of ethylene and its derivatives the inclusion of simple correction terms in the Ureyhyphen;Bradley field can also cover the case of the orbital force field.
