Designing a high-quality speech terminal interface

This article describes part of the design of a high-quality speech terminal and shows some of the routes followed to provide an interface between a G.722 speech coder and a 64 kbit/s network termination. The decision process involved in choosing between two different solutions illustrates some of the problems and compromises which can be encountered on the route to a product.
