摘要

The dipolar correlation function of CO2in N2has been measured by the band shape analysis of the infrared stretching mode at various pressures in the 20ndash;140 bar range. The depth of the minimum in the correlation function is found to be a convenient experimental parameter. It is linear with pressure and converges to the classical free rotor value at very low pressures. The correlation time is linear with pressure in the 20ndash;140 bar range, but its intercept at zero pressures is very different from the classical free rotor value. The mean torque has been calculated from the experimental second and fourth spectral moments. It is found to be a nonlinear function of pressure, which converges to zero at zero pressure. The second moments are lower than 2kT/Iby 30ndash;20percnt;. Results are compared to previous experiments.
