Fairey Swordfish Observer

The fairey Swordfish was designed to a more modern specification than its open cockpit and biplane configurationwould at first suggest. The specification, S.15 of 1933, called for a TSR type: Torpedo-bomber, Spotter and Reconnaissance. Inter-war thinking had the Swordfish as one of two or three types equipping an aircraft carrier, each type undertaking multiple roles.
