Generalized time-sharing schemes, in which rate-splitting and successive decoding are used, have been developed for memoryless multiple access channels (MACs). This scheme realizes any rate in the capacity region of a MAC with decoding complexity proportional to those for single-user codes, even when usual time-sharing cannot be used. This paper addresses the problem of how to realize similar coding schemes for the multiple-receiver channels, such as compound MACs and interference channels. For compound MACs, an upper-bound on the number of rate splittings required for generalized time-sharing is given. For interference channels, a generalized time-sharing scheme is particularly effective, so that any rate in the celebrated Han-Kobayashi rate region can be realized with low decoding complexity.
