Morphologic discussion of the transition mechanism from corona to glow discharge

The transition mechanism from the initiation of a corona discharge to a glow discharge is morphologically shown in the atmosphere with 1hyphen;mm narrowhyphen;gap spacing. The anode glow spreads out widely on the anode surface, similar to that of a lowhyphen;pressure glow discharge, and changes into a positive column after sparkhyphen;over. A dc component of the discharge current appears when the anode glow occurs.
