Coherent Elastic Xhyphen;Ray Scattering by Atoms. Use of an Improved Thomasndash;Fermi Model

摘要

A recently obtained approximate variational solution of the Thomasndash;Fermi (TF) equation is used for the calculation of the total cross section of coherent elastic scattering of x rays by the noblehyphen;gas atoms. It is found that, apart from He and Ne, the calculated cross sections in the 1ndash;1000 keV range agree within a few percent with the quantumhyphen;mechanical values.
