A 24-year-old woman had Takayasu arteritis. Radionuclide imaging showed complete obstruction of the right pulmonary artery and compromised perfusion in the left upper and lower lobe. Ventilation was normal. Involvement of the aortic arch and its branches was found as well. Pneumectomy of the unperfused right lung had to be performed eventually for fungal pneumonia. The clinical course of this patient has stabilized without signs of active disease.
