The deuterium relaxation of CDCl3dissolved in a thermotropic nematic liquid crystal has been studied at 13.0deg;C and analyzed in the framework of Redfield theory. From the results of a selective Carrndash;Purcell experiment, a nonselective and two selective inversion hyphen; recovery measurements, spectral densities of motion at ohgr;=0, ohgr;=ohgr;0, and ohgr;=2ohgr;0have been determined, and the results are discussed in relation to present theories for relaxation of solutes in ordered media.
