The reaction of (C8H8)YCl(THF) with NaC5H4CH3in tetrahydrofuran leads to (C8H8)Y(C5H4CH3)(THF). The X-ray structural analysis shows the compound to be orthorhombic witha=1157.5 (2),b=1553.2 (5),c=1718.9 (6) pm, space group Pbca,Z=8, andD(calcd)=1.48 g/cm−3. The structure was solved from 1643 observed reflections withFo⩾4σ (Fo) and refined to a finalRfactor of 0.058.
