Metal matrix composites (MMC) consisting of ceramic particles in acast iron or steel matrix have been developed and tested. Componentshave been manufactured in industrial scale and evaluated in theproduction equipment of two different companies. The componentsincludes studs for pre-barking equipment for eucalyptus trees inPortugal and Hammer blades for the milling of process residues at aSwedish papermill. Initially, the mechanical properties wereevaluated and the wear resistance was quantified through a Simplelaboratory test.
