To boost the interest of citizens including younger students in research on magnetic and spintronic materials, the authors have been engaged in outreach activities for many years. In this review article, one of the activities, a science event called "Tsukuba Science Collabo 2017,” is presented. Hand-made Halbach arrayed permanent magnets with unique magnetic properties were prepared in a collaboration with local students in Tsukuba. As judged from a questionnaire, our demonstration succeeded in attracting considerable attention from visitors and won a prize for being 9th in popularity among 54 teams at the event.
