Cass Gebbers, president and CEO of Gebbers Farms in Brewster, Washington, testified about the effects of tariffs on U.S. agriculture and rural communities on behalf of the tree fruit industry before the House Ways and Means Committee's trade subcommittee in July.Gebbers Farms grows fruit on about 13,500 acres, with 10,000 acres of apples, 3,000 acres of cherries and 500 acres of pears. Its sales company also represents 14,000 acres of its neighbors and local fruit co-op members as well as another 8,000 acres ofindependent family growers. About 30 percent of this fruit is exported to more than 40 countries around the world.
