Dear Sir, Local injection of corticosteroids for symptomatic relief of carpal tunnel syndrome is a commonplace procedure (Bland, 2007). The initial response rate to injection is usually high but there is a significant relapse rate, with long-term relief achieved in a minority of patients (Marshall et al., 2007).
