In this paper, the photochemical transformation of divalentmercury ions and methyl-mercury in water solutions was studied undersimulated sunlight in a laboratory setting. The results indicatedthat the Hg~2+ in solution can be reduced to Hg~0 under irradiation,which was subsequently released to gas phase. Natural organic matter,such as fulvic acid(FA), can influence the reduction of Hg~2+. Thereduction rate of Hg~2+ in the presence of FA was enhanced in theinitial period.
