It has been almost a year since the disruption to Indonesian exports caused by the discreditation of PT Surveyor as a verified ore surveyor. Many predicted that Indonesian exports would fall significantly following the near-complete closure of private smelters in the country, yet PT Timah remains on course to export around 70,000 tonnes of refined tin this calendar year. Although this forecast total represents more than a 15 decline in Indonesia refined tin production, Timah is likely to double its own production, from 34,500 tonnes in 2018.However, exports through the ICDX seem to have hit a bump during July. While exports were expected to be lower than June – down 8 – the volume fell 34 month-on-month, totaling just 4,285 tonnes. Since February, exports have been averaging around 6,000 tonnes per month, with July marking the lowest monthly total since January this year (4,025 tonnes).
