A man with poorly differentiated small-cell carcinoma of the lung presented with extensive metastases to the liver. A prechemotherapy bone scan (performed with 740 MBq Tc-99m MDP) revealed soft tissue uptake in two large liver metastases. The patient received four cycles of VP-16 and cisplatin, and the bone scan was repeated in 6 months. Uptake In liver metastases on bone Imaging has been reported previously; this case documents precise correlation with two metastases on CT and dramatic reversal with improvement after chemotherapy.
