A fast moving electron strikes a targetmdash;an xhyphen;ray is born. This paper leads one from this simple fact to the most advanced sealedhyphen;off tubes with air or liquid cooling, rotating targets, as well as demountable tubes of both vacuum and gashyphen;filled types.
