This case highlights an important, but frequently overlooked, detail of the fragment specific palmar distal radius plating technique. Not all implants are designed the same and it is vital that the surgeon understands how the chosen plate should be optimally positioned to allow the fixed-angle screws to have purchase in both columns of the distal radius. This will help to maintain the reduction, prevent the complications we have described and negate the need for complex corrective procedures with unpredictable outcomes (Lozano-Calderon et al., 2010).
