TheHyidiothripsgenus-group from tropical leaf-litter (Thysanoptera Phlaeothripidae), with two new species of the Old-World genusCrinitothripsOkajima 1978

Two new fungus-feeding species of the genusCrinitothripsOkajima 1978 are described,C. roomifrom Ghana, andC. murphyifrom Singapore, and identification keys are provided to the members of this genus and to the five genera that comprise theHyidiothripsgroup. The characters by which this group may be distinguished, and the level at which the group should be classified, family, sub-family, tribe or genus- group, are discussed. It is concluded that recognition of the group at supra-generic level is not useful because it renders the rest of Phlaeothripidae paraphyletic.
