Tool path calculation and simulation of centrifugal compressor impeller

摘要

Blades of centrifugal compressor impeller have 3-dimensionally skewed surfaces. 5-axis milling machine can generate these surfaces precisely and quickly, but it is difficult to recognize its 3-dimensional movement previously. Cutter path simulation makes it easy to understand the 3-dimensional movement and to check undercut or overcut the impeller blades. In this report we describe the mathematical modeling of impeller surfaces and the cutter path simulation to generate these surfaces by 5-axis milling machine.
