There are said to be over 150 ways of surgically treating end-neuromas in the literature, a clear indicator that most are eventually found ineffective by patients and their treating surgeons. Several major problems blight research to find a cure for this debilitating problem. Perhaps the most important (correctable) one is the publication of small numbers of cases from which no useful conclusions can be drawn. Another is the presentation of investigations which do not have a direct bearing on the success, or not, of the suggested procedure, and which simply confuse the reader. This article suffers both faults.
