SummaryA Rank Xerox Telecopier 400 (telefacsimile) system for producing facsimiles of prescription sheets is described. Its introduction has meant that peripheral hospitals without pharmacies are able to retain patients' prescription sheets on the ward. They are then available for medical and nursing staff. In hospitals where interhospital transport is infrequent, prescriptions may now be sent by Telecopier. When regular visiting by a ward pharmacist is not possible the Telecopier provides an additional opportunity to monitor prescriptions.
