On August 14, 2004, a research project titled "Preparation of Aliphatic Ester Polycarbonate and Degrad-able Foam Plastics by Using Carbon Dioxide" passed its technical appraisal by experts under the sponsorship of the National Bureau of Environmental Protection. The research project is a brainchild of the rewarding cooperation between CAS Guangzhou Chemical Co. Ltd. under the CAS Guangzhou Branch and its business partner Golden Dragon Corp., a firm in the city of Taixing, Jiangsu Province. According to the experts in the appraising panel, the project has reached the advanced international level in terms of catalysis and activation of the carbon dioxide and high bio-degradability of the poly-urethane foam plastics.
