Scintigraphic scanning for ectopic gastric mucosa using Tc-99m pertechnetate has become the radiographic imaging method of choice in screening for Meckel's diverticulum. Delayed views have been advocated in scans that are normal or equivocal. A case of surgically proven Meckel's diverticulum is presented which demonstrated disappearance of activity after 3frac12; hours, suggesting a false-negative result. Other atypical features were delayed initial visualization (40 minutes postinjection despite pentagastrin and glucagon augmentation) and location in the left lower quadrant.
