The Direct Synthesis of Dibromomethylphosphonic Dibromide and Some of Its Derivatives

Compound CHBr2P(O)Br2has been synthesized by smooth hydrolysis of the CHBr3,PBr3,AlBr3 adduct preparedin situ. This compound in turn gave access to related dibromomethylphosphonic diesters, diamides and the difluoride in high yields.
