Executives of Italian plate producer Trametal SpA are close to taking a decision about the future of Spartan Redheugh, the UK plate mill that it acquired last year. A meeting on June 30 had been expected to determine whether to shut the mill definitively or to restart production, but in the event no decision was taken.A spokeswoman for the Italian company was unable to speculate on its plans, but said any decision to restart production largely depends on UK market conditions. The mill will reopen only if "business is good," she said.
