The influence of site of ovulation on conception rates, barrenness, and partial failure of multiple ovulation was examined by analysing data from 2430 and 4087 ewes (with 1 or 2corpora lutea(CL) respectively) which were mated in the first period of joining. Within each ovulation rate, site of ovulation did not significantly influence any of the measured characteristics. Conception rates, as determined by failure of ewes to return to service after the first 17 days of joining, were 0.92 in ewes with 2 CL (950/0 confidence range: 0.91-0.93) and 0.85 (95 confidence range: 0.84-0.87) in ewes with 1 CL.
