AbstractTotal urinary hydroxyproline in both a non‐osteoporotic and osteoporotic group of aged persons did not differ significantly from that in a young adult population, suggesting that collagen metabolism in the aged as reflected by urinary hydroxyproline does not differ markedly from that in younger persons. No direct correlation could be made between measurements of bone size and hydroxyproline excretion. Serum alkaline phosphatase and hydroxyproline excretion did not parallel within the normal range of values studie
