The development of trigger finger (TF) after a carpal tunnel release (CTR) is well documented (Harada et al., 2005; Hayashi et al., 2005; Hombal and Owen, 1970). We compared the incidence of TF or de Quervain’s tendinitis (DQ) after unilateral CTR with the untreated contralateral hand. We hypothesized that there would be a greater incidence of TF or DQ in hands that underwent CTR compared with those that did not. This study also explored potential risk factors in the development of TF or DQ after CTR.
