The International Cotton Researchers Association (ICRA) remains a young organization, dating back to 2012, when it was created under the initiative of ICAC. In spite of the acknowledged social and economic importance of cotton production, research onits production had not enjoyed the support of a dedicated international initiative until that time.ICRA is an independent organization, open to the membership of any individual researcher working substantially on cotton production research in the world. Researchers from the public and private sectors, retired or in active service, are eligible to become members of ICRA. ICRA is hence distinct from the ICAC, whose members are the governments of countries with an interest in cotton. ICRA is an association established according to the laws of the United States of America, while its mode of operation isdefined by rules and bylaws associated to its official establishment.
