摘要

Hyperthermia is a minimally invasive therapeutic method for cancer that is used as an alternative to surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy. In particular, with respect to hyperthermia using magnetic nanoparticles as a heating source, regional heat is applied to cancer tissue through the accumulation of magnetic nanoparticles in the cancer tissue without damaging healthy tissue. In this article, recent developments in research on hyperthermia using magnetic nanoparticles are reviewed. The physics of interparticle dipole interactions are very important for synthesizing the optimal materials for hyperthermia. When evaluating the heat dissipation of magnetic nanoparticles, the specific loss power (SLP) and intrinsic loss power (ILP) are generally used as the indexes. The SLP required to destroy cancer tissue is estimated, and the SLP and ILP of different structural materials that are researched are compared with each other. Finally, the hyperthermia treatments combined with other therapies showing synergistic effects are introduced.
