Use of Radiolabelled Antiglobulin for Quantitation of Antibody to Soluble Antigens Rendered Particulate: Application to Human Sera from ‘Pigeon Fancier’s Lung Syndrome’

A method is described for quantitation of antibody levels in sera from human cases of ‘pigeon fancier’s lung syndrome’. The method uses a 125I-radiolabelled specific antibody to human IgG to detect antibody bound to antigen on the surface of carrier formalinized sheep erythrocytes. By comparison of counts of radioactivity with a standard antiserum, the antibody content of which was measured by a quantitative precipitin technique, antibody levels have been expressed in weight units.
