The IE-MEI method is derived from an integral equation using the MEI method and gives the relation between the electric field and the magnetic field on the surface of a scattering object. Using the relation and the boundary condition on the object, we can obtain the equivalent electric current or the equivalent magnetic current. In this report, we investigate the application ranges of the relation in 2-D scattering problems for TE wave and TM wave, using numerical calculation. The results show that this relation holds for arbitrary material objects to a good approximation, and that the equivalent electric current on a perfectly electric conductor or a scattering object with impedance boundary condition can be obtained within an accuracy of a few percentages. We also show that the duality of the relation makes it possible to solve the problems for a TM wave and the corresponding TE wave simultaneously.
