The dolmens of Brittany come in many shapes and sizes, but two are instantly recognizable: the Angevin dolmens, and the transcepted passage graves. As we saw in Paper 1 of this series, the massive Angevin dolmens have their origin to the southeast of Brittany, in the region of the cities of Angers and Saumur. In Brittany there are some four outliers of this type, one at Essé in Ille-et-Vilaine (see Figures 11 and 12 in Paper 1), and the other three in Morbihan. Their orientations are listed in Table 1. Curiously, although all dolmens close to Angers and Saumur (whether Angevin or not) face easterly, nearly all of them in directions in which the sun sometimes rose (SR) or in which the sun had risen and was climbing in the sky (SC), two of these four outliers face a little north of west.
