Phenyl isothiocyanate in heterocyclic synthesis: Novel synthesis of thiazoles, thieno2,3-bpyridine, thiophene and thieno3,2-cpyridazine derivatives

The enamino nitriles1and2react with phenyl isothiocyanate followed by cyclization with α-haloketones3and10to afford in each case the thiazole5, thiophene11and the thieno2,3-bpyridine derivatives19and21. Chemical and spectroscopic evidences for the structures of the new compounds are described
