ENHANCEMENT OF SUPERCONDUCTIVITY IN THIN INDIUM FILMS

The effect of elastic tensile stress on the superconducting transition temperature of thin indium films is investigated through the use of specially fabricated substrates. It is found that the transition temperatures may be elevated as much as 0.91 deg;K above the bulk value.
