We describe a high-resolution optical network analyzer based on optical low coherence interference for measuring the phase error distribution of an arrayed-waveguide grating (AWG). Photosensitive refractive index change under UV laser irradiation was employed to adjust all the arrayed waveguides of an AWG. The multi-stage tandem connection of AWGs with different channel spacings was used to construct a multi/demultiplexer with a vast number of channel count for future photonic networks.
