The first trial application of ozone for waterworks in Japan was made as early as 1932. From the early 1960's Japan and its people have made a great stride toward rapid economical progress and the publication of the #x201C;Ozone Handbook#x201D; is an absolute proof of it. Actually ozonation is used to play its role at the final stage of physical, chemical and biological processes. Statistics show that some 260 sets of ozonators have been installed last 3 years of which about 30 are designed for night-soil treatment, 26 for industrial wastewater treatment, and 33 for gas deodorization.
