A Decade of Hard Work Leads to the Fourth Generation of Catalysts

After a decade-long arduous work, CAS scientists succeeded in developing the fourth generation of high-performance catalysts. The research breakthrough was achieved by a research team beaded by Prof. Lin Hanfan with the CAS Institute of Chemistry. This work includes a new method concerning the preparation of a nanometallic colloid protected by polymers and demystification of the secret to raise the working efficacy of metal nanoclusters used as a catalyst. The success lays down a solid foundation for the industrial application of the new catalysts.
